News Archive 18th May 2008: A little bit of Kryptonite for the man of steel Last night I performed at the annual event of the Women's India Association of the UK. It was a high profile event at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge with the seating plan being approved by 10 Downing Street. In attendance were Sarah Brown (Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife), The High Commissioner of India, Lord Swraj Paul, Lord Karan Bilimoria, Baroness Shreela Flather etc etc.you get the picture. I was asked to perform a few minutes of stand-up and then host the auction. I'd like to congratulate the young new chairperson Frances Malhotra for taking the bold risk of having a comedian at such an event. Fortunately the risk paid off handsomely on the comedy front and the auction (see testimonial here). I kept the comedy edgy yet safe enough for the 'aunties'.and I'm pleased to say that the event's fundraising target was £100,000 and we hit £120,000 in the end.
