News Archive 4 July 2008: India Tour, Great Comedy for a Great Cause and Last Comic Standing. STOP PRESS The India Tour has been a new beginning for me. It’s the first time I’ve performed in India and it is SO nice to be home. I have loved the crowds and the response has exceeded my own expectations. I want to be here more often. Here is a market that is ready for alternative stand-up comedy and I’d love to come back and give them more of it. All the shows were sold out and people were turned away – I’m sorry for that and I’ll be sure to bring this show back for those of you that missed out this time around. And the next time there will be some more desi bits - so watch this space. Here is some of the press that came out of the tour. And if you want me to perform in your city, you can demand me here. On Monday 7 July 2008 is the annual Great Comedy for a Great Cause show that I organise for my charity, One Child. This has become a must-see event on the comedy calendar and is held at the Comedy Store in London. One Child supports a village of 4800 people and is instrumental in eradicating child labour and getting children back into the formal schooling. The bulk of One Child’s funding comes from stand-up comedy so please do come out and support the show. There is more information on my charity page and you can buy tickets from here. This is another year in the life of a fantastic and dedicated charity that does very good work at grassroots level. On 3 July 2008 I got into the Final 12 of Last Comic Standing. It was a thrill to perform in Las Vegas and to hear my mother unable to speak on the phone because she was crying so hard with happiness has been the jewel in the crown for me. I wanted to get into the last 12, but at some level, that’s about it. I came to do stand-up comedy. I’m not sure whether being a contestant on a reality show is what I want. I’m quite a private guy off stage so lets see what happens. It is sure to be a learning experience and in that respect I’m looking forward to it. If I can walk out with 2 good friends, that will be great. I doubt though that I will be as hungry for it as some of the others…and I’m not one to do forced antics just when the camera is around so we will see what America thinks about that. But I do pledge that I will only vote off people who I think I’m genuinely funnier than. Should they knock me out, so be it.
